Titan is Saturn's largest moon, and the second largest in the solar system. It has a dense atmosphere and it is the only body besides Earth that has standing liquid water including rivers, lakes and seas on its surface, as well as a water cycle. It's thought to have an underground ocean. The surface of Titan is one of the most Earthlike places in the solar system, however it is so cold that ice plays the role of rock. The volcanoes on Titan emit water and ice, resulting in cryovolcanic activity.

The beaches are made of dark hydrocarbon grains that look like coffee grounds, stacked in tall, linear dunes. Titan's dense and chemically rich atmosphere splits the rays from the sun and many wavelengths of light don't make it through to the moon's surface. If you were standing on Titan, the sky would be crimson red as it's the only wavelength that can get through the atmosphere. The other wavelengths are dispersed across the sky of the planet, meaning there is a rainbow orb surrounding Titan.

The Cassini-Huygens' mission revealed much of what we know about Titan. It is thought to be a primordial Earth as many habitable conditions exist on this moon, however the life would be very different from life here on Earth.

The Titan mythology refers to a group of gods that pre-date the Olympian gods. Zeus and the Olympians overthrew the ruling Titans and their leader Cronus, banishing them from the upper-world to become the ruling pantheon of the cosmos.

Often a Titan is seen to embody a driving force of nature.
